Fraudulent Transfers

Can I transfer ownership of my assets to someone else prior to filing bankruptcy so I don’t lose them in bankruptcy?
No. Making these types of transfers within one year of filing a Chapter 7 bankruptcy will almost certainly be considered fraudulent and not only could result in the loss of your Chapter 7 discharge but could also subject you to criminal prosecution.  You are required to fill out a Statement of Financial affairs which is under the penalties of perjury, listing all the property you transferred.  There is a one year limitation or look back under the Ferderal laws and 4 years under Florida Law.
