This is a scheduled meeting (a 341 meeting) takes place approximately 30 days after your bankruptcy petition has been filed with the court. It is not held before a judge but before a Trustee. This Trustee which is usually a lawyer appointed by the court to oversee your case. The Trustee has the opportunity and right to ask you questions under oath about your assets and debts. This usually just takes five or ten minutes at the most. Your creditors are also allowed to attend and ask you questions as well although they rarely do in fact attend.
